Heard in the Town Hall: Chief wants another 10 years!

Yes you heard that right! Apparently Atkinson's own police chief, Philip V. for Vengeance Consentino has been quietly talking to certain selectmen about retaining his position for 10 MORE YEARS!

He has also been lobbying the selectmen to accept HIS proposition that any new chief, must also agree to head Elderly Affairs! What unbridled arrogance! Didn't the Attorney General's office demand SEPARATION BETWEEN POLICE AND ELDERLY over 2 years ago? Some separation!

Supposedly the chief is supposed to keep a time sheet detailing his police hours and his elderly hours. The AG's office said they should clearly be able to tell where the police dept stops and the elderly dept. starts. Thats not happening!

10 More years??? Poor Billy! After all the demeaning, honor destroying, syncophantic duties he has had to perform to maintain his "on deck" position, to have his turn at bat put off for 10 years, That has to be a low blow indeed.

poor Billie? poor us.

Interesting. If he made it 10 years, we'd probably be the only town in the world with an 80-year-old chief!

We already have an 80 year old cop.

Chief is only 70.

I fail to see any sense in this situation. The town deserves better.

Boy... the Moderator has thrown the Chief-haters here a real softball right down the middle. I'd have expected 50 vitriolic posts and a few gallons of venom by now.

Could we hear a bit more about the "where", "when" and "who" are involved?

Last item I recall that started with "Heard around town..." was an unsubstantiated account of Lt. Baldwin and that was taken down in 30 minutes.

Of course he wants 10 more years.
In this economy, where's he gonna
go, Haiti?

You people have no idea the great "bang for the buck" a pt Chief gives you. Sure send Phil out to the pasture and the next Ft Chief will need more than Baldwin so we will go from a 20,000 salary to a 80,000 + salary. Do you people think at all?

This blog needs the chief, otherwise it would have no purpose. Chief, if you're reading this, for the sake of the blogs existence, you need to stay! The blog needs you chief!

Nobody NEEDS the chief. The Town would be better served with a competent police chief. The elderly would be better served with someone who did not use their support as a political football. The pople would be better served with an official who doesnt violate law and peoples rights and cost the town hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

I think it would be cheaper to find a competent replacement than to spend so much time, effort and money on lawsuits. The rest of the town employees could focus on the job at hand rather than scurrying away from the latest scandal. People would volunteer more if they were not subjected to the petty retaliation and vindictiveness.

You said "People would volunteer more if they were not subjected to the petty retaliation and vindictiveness."

Are you referring to retaliation and vindictiveness from the so-called "Mafia" or from lawsuit-happy constituents?

I am a town volunteer, and I fear only the lawsuit-happy constituents. I have never had any interference or attempts to influence my actions from other town officials.

hmmm, Have the lawsuits been frivolous?

Did they not sue for things that actually happened?

Bear in mind that most of those lawsuits would have been avoided has the selectmen simply done their job, followed the town's employee discipline policy, and supervised their employee, but in that they have steadfastly refused to fulfill their duty.

The big Con is a common joke among the populace. He only has sway with voters he buys or that owe him favors. I've yet to run into someone that thinks he's doing a good job except seniors that get freebies. Its a house of cards now. Neighboring PDs openly joke about the big Con. We get to be the laughingstock of NH because of one incompetent politician misusing a badge and disguised as police officer.

I would hope the Selectmen would reject the Chief's "wish" that he be allowed to continue as Chief for another ten years.

I would also hope that the Elderly Affairs would be a separate entity so we can end this conflict. The Chief says it cannot work if it's not part of the PD. That's not true. All other elderly programs in other towns operate independently.

I think anyone who has not seen the vindictiveness hasn't looked. Unfortunately, anyone (I mean this), who gets in the way will get a dose.

Anonymous said...

The only vindictiveness comes from the CON, selectmen, Osborns and people that support them.

He thinks he owns the job and that Bill owns it next. This is merely arrogance.

I am guessing that none of this is true--because there are no "facts" in the post, and that this was only started because the whiners were experiencing "Phil-bashing withdrawal!" and needed their "fix."

selectmen meeting last monday, Phil said they should never hire a police chief unless they agree to take over elderly affairs too. Said elderly wont work without PD!

It is long past time for Kojak to retire. He has proven many times over that he lacks the mental stability and acumen to properly execute the duties of CoP.
Elderly services have to be severed because there is an inherent implied intimidation when anyone carrying a gun and badge asks for a donation.
There are plenty of counties in rural West Virginia who would welcome the Chief.
I wouldn't even consider moving back to Atkinson as long as he is on the PD.
Any new chief must come from outside the department. Mr. B has been trained up by the corrupter in chief. There is no reason to believe he won't continue the tradition.

Dear 2;52pm--- You got that right!

Hope the voters remeber in March. We foget too quickly.

Elderly won't work without PD?

Which is more pathetic, the one who makes such a ridiculous claim, or those who actually believe him?

Maybe the EA can get donations for a brain scanner and use it to see who is shrinking.

The elderly affairs fund could but him a HovAround and paint it blue.
