Atkinson reports spate of break-in attempts

ATKINSON — A series of attempted burglaries in town have police launching a Neighborhood Watch program.

Detective Phil Farrar said there have been two recent break-ins in Atkinson and a number in surrounding towns.

"There's been a real upswing in burglaries the past few weeks in the area," he said. "It seems to be more than usual. We get three or four a year maybe."

On May 5, burglars attempted to break into a home on Conley Road.

"They broke a pane of glass next to the door and undid the deadbolt," Farrar said. "The alarm went off and frightened them away. They didn't take anything."

In another incident, suspects approached a home on Westside Drive, asking for directions to Salem.

Police believe the suspects look for homes with a long driveway or with no vehicles visible, and knock on the door. When the owners answer, they ask for directions or offer job services.

"If there's no answer, they break in," Farrar said. "This seems to be the MO."

He said the police are requesting help from residents to deal with the break-ins.

"People need to be aware that communication is the biggest thing," he said. "We've been trying to start the Neighborhood Watch program. We offered it to neighbors who have been burglarized in the past, but we need input from the people — they're our eyes and ears. If someone sees something weird, we need them to call."

Anyone interested in participating in Neighborhood Watch is asked to call police at 362-4001.

Neighborhood watch. Funny. Try calling when something happens and all you hear is that it didn't happen, you saw nothing, you are the problem, move if you don't like it.

Funniest article ever.

WOW!! 3 or 4 a YEAR! good thing we have deputy dawg on the payroll to investigate. How much do we pay this guy? Really? This is nuts you realize to have a detective in Atkinson.

Thank you Mr. Farrar, you made the case for the discontinuation of your position.

Great article LET!

I see a direct relationship between slandering of the detective on the blog and public relations work by Phil. last time our useless detective was under scrutiny, Phil got on the Selectmen's agenda to read a thank you letter from a plaistow retailer about the great job he did on some shoplifting. It was like a participation award for all the kids in the local coloring contest. Phil you are losing this one badly. Get on the phones and get the PR machine going!! Mailers to the elderly quickly now! Justify the lackey's job!

Atkinson is this sleepy little rich town near low income towns people are suffering and can't pay the rent or buy food. There will be increasing crime and burglaries here as the poor come to get payback for what the rich took by sending their jobs out of the country or hiring cheap cheap illegal immigrants like at our Dunkin Donuts. This is a rich and superior small town for the rich and superior who need four car garages.

Hope the Osborns don't get hit. That would be a crime. They live there 24/7. That's a good thing.

This is when you start to see all the photos in the paper too. Whenever there's trouble, they start showing up.

Anonymous said...

So why don't we see this stuff in the police logs?

Anonymous said...

What logs?

Case closed.

$800,000/yr. for 3 or 4 break ins?

Nice to see that people are starting to recognize how the Con-man and selectmen work to keep their positions and CONTROL over us taxpayers.

When things start to get to close to the truth as to their actions, they call the ET and have them publish an article as to just HOW GREAT THEY ARE!

This article is just another example of how they use the ET to their advantage. Try calling the ET to complain about the corruption in this town, and they won't even talk to you. They don't want the CON-MAN showing up at their office banging on their desk to complain how they didn't have their "FACTS STRAIGHT"!

Now we need more people to recognize these facts, and show up to throw these BUMS OUT!

Next thing you know they will be using tax dollars (no insuranccce company involved) to pay for legal expenses for a private citizens lawsuit (x town offical) against another private citizen just to teach the defendant a lesson.

Oh, almost forget...........THEY ARE ALREADY DOING THAT!

Shame on us for bring that up.

Great place Atkinson, right?

Please don't forget our PD is down two men. Watch the selectmen's meeting Monday night and watch the Conn-man asking or another $750,000 to be added to his budget to BATTLE this NEW CRIME SPREE! Unless he gets it, his hands are tied.

OMG WE ALL NEED TO TURN OUR FIRST BORN OVER TO THE CON-MAN FOR TRAINING IN HIS PD, or we are all gonners!

Save us CON-MAN, PLEASE SAVE US!

Give us a break selectmen, will ya? No one is buying this for a minute.

FIRE THE CON-MAN NOW!

Well, they cannot replace the Lt. because it wasn't voted on and just let them try.

We should also ask for damages from those who used their positions and created the illegal position to begin with.

Det. Phil (lacky) Farrar can tell you what happens on every Simpson rerun, but he can't find the Osborns living at 8 Valcat after a court order throwing them out.

Good job lacky...........is it because the selectmen ordered you to turn a blind eye, or is the CON-MAN threating to make you an Elderly Affairs driver should you find the Osborns living there?

Farrar couldn't detect his rear end if he had a hundred sets of (Simpson) hands to help him out.

Farrar first in his police class? Doubt it unless Fred (Simpson) was the teacher.

Let's set up a "Neighborhood Watch" group in our PD, get rid of all the expense the PD costs us, save us the expense of a new million dollar police station the Con-man is already suggesting we need, get rid of all the lawsuits he has cost us along with the $700,000 dollars in insurance costs a year, hire Plaistow PD to take our complaints for $45,000 a year?

This is a Det. (lackey) Farrar NO BRAINER!

Con-man.........you are a blight on our society. Selectmen, you are no better.

A SHAME IS A SHAME, no matter where you live.

ET, this article is the best example of why you will go out of business like other newspapers and the internet will replace you.

How much do you think taxpayers will buy on your(selectmen/police chief) generated articles before we all stop getting your paper?

Last chance to do REAL REPORTING, before you are gone. Time is not on you side.

When will the selectmen realize that taxpayers are aware of how they let Consentino pull their strings? When will they realize the GIG is up and someone of them will go to jail? Do they think they are so entrenched that they are not touchable? How dare them to enable Consentino to run this town. How dare them to be a part of the Atkinson Mafia!

Selectmen won’t take the Conman out………….time to take them all out!

We came home to a problem at our house and when we called it in, they said there was nothing they could do. Maybe so, but they didn't even try to solve it, didn't even try. I think we need a big change, starting at the top.

Anonymous said...

To May 11 11:08AM: So you're saying that because someone who has worked hard to buy nice things deserves to have them stolen?

Yes, there are some bad eggs who work the system to hire illegals and outsource jobs, but you shouldn't put everyone in that boat. There are people like this in most affluent towns.

Anonymous said...

They didn't write that.

Anonymous said...

Ya, right! (NOT)

Anonymous said...

They didn't write "someone who has worked hard to buy nice things deserves to have them stolen?
"

YOU did.

So guys, how's the neighborhood watch program going? I bet you got flooded with calls. OK, maybe one if you're lucky.

What a comical farce our PD is. No surprise Bill Baldwin left. He was surrounded by clown management and a useless, unnecessary detective. I can't believe he lasted as long as he did.

Phil and our detective should resign effective immediately and stop WASTING OUR TAX DOLLARS.
