The Tower, the Sequel to the Sequel to the Sequel
Yes people, the long dormant TOWER issue is back again! But THIS time it is being pushed as a revenue generator behind the fire station. The "official" story line goes something like this;
Cell companies will pay to lease space on a 160' tower in the pristine center of town, OH, AND if our petulant police chief gets his way (he was thwarted the first two tries) he can get his communications equipment up there as well.
This time there is no mention of who will pay the $260,000 cost of building the tower, or the equipment to be housed there. But you know who will ultimately be on the hook.... YOU GOT IT! THE TAXPAYERS!
This is the regurgitation of the very same debunked arguments from two and five years ago. Five years ago, the police dept. did not put a warrant article forward for the tower, but Billy Baldwin was circulating at town meeting a prospectus for the project which would have been billed as a public safety issue, and an emergency need later in the year. It called for a $260,000 tower, and $510,000 of equipment to go along with it. And NONE of this would have addressed the communications issue of the PD which was low power transmission outages for the shoulder held radios.
Experts stated at the time that vehicle repeaters were the most cost effective means of solving this, but Phil would have none of it. You see, with vehicle repeaters the shoulder radios only needed to transmit to the car. The higher power radio in the car, would then connect with the PD to facilitate communications. Phil admitted the cars have no blackout problems. These are used by police depts. across the country and chiefs in those communities swear by them.
WE COULD HAVE INSTALLED VEHICLE REPEATERS IN EVERY CAR FOR A TOTAL OF $27,465.00! Not the $770,000 it would take to erect Phils phallic symbol in the center of town. By the way, no one has ever ID'ed or found the communications equipment that the chief got through Plaistows grant 6 years ago, and was certified to have been installed on a tower in Atkinson when in reality it was stored in a closet somewhere.
So many question, so much wasted taxpayer dollars, all to feed one man's fragile ego, When will it all stop?

I think this blog may be dead along with the entire town. Which Selectman is
running for re-election this year? Should we vote him out? Is he even running?
And what about the other positions? Isn't the filing deadline 25-Jan?
And what about warrant articles? Will the BOS ask for renovations at Town Hall
this year? Will the Communicatios Tower appear on the warrant or will the BOS
look to the Planning Board and Zoning Board for decisions.? Does the Chief
need a new SUV or is that too last year. Maybe he wants a drone to spy on
residents, er monitor criminal activity, now.

I am proud of how Fred stands up to Phil and hope Fred runs again and I don't think Bill is doing enough to put Phil in his place (by the curb). Todd? Are you even paying attention?

All the records were removed to his house when he was ill. Why that was allowed is beyond me.
BTW, I really am sick and tired of having to put up with this unqualified person because of the elderly. They get tax breaks, free rides and we have to pay the bill. I don't think we should be paying for them to be driven around at our expense unless they are in a low tax bracket. I don't like getting stuck with the bill and getting stuck with Phil due to them.
Both of his functions are different from one another,supposedly that is. He can haul the elderly if he is finally retired or fired from the police. I can agree with you that there has to be elderly that can afford to pay some thing for the transporting them any and every where they want to go. An income limit should be made to do that.
We were victims of a hit and run. Gave the police the plate, vehicle make, model, color, description of the driver, location and type of damage to their car. Police said they went to their house in Atkinson, car has no damage. I went to see the car myself, it was just as I said. This is example of our corrupt town. Just sharing.

Don't just share just do something, report it to the State police that you are not getting any help from local police. Call Channel 9 news and see if they want the storyline. Can't you tell your insurance company what happened and let them contact authorities, otherwise you get stuck with a deductible. Go back and take pictures. Just saying.
If what has been said is true about the hit and run then I agree with the last post. It could be the end of the towns police problems. The chief and officers are supposed to equally enforce the law among us. If not then they have no right to be in their positions of law enforcement and should be replaced . Where are the BOS now in this latest debacle and what do they intend to do about it?
This was last year and I didn't tell the board. They have plenty of other cases they chose to ignore. I have no faith in them, none.
There's no such thing as equal law enforcement here. It's about who one person likes and dislikes. What infuriates me is the parade of people who let this happen year after year. Selectmen, other officers, local individuals with other powers in the state, his family and those who say nothing.
10:23 , Your third sentence does seem to apply to 9:08 a.m. who didn't do what he could and should have. If he did then may be we wouldn't have the Conman running things. There are other agencies who he could have told and gotten results that the police department failed to see or get for him.
Oh, please. How many people before him have complained and you think one more will do it? EVERYONE knows what is going on in this town and EVERYONE ignores it. Don't blame one guy.
I'm sorry if I appear to be blaming one person to you. I'm well aware of the many who have had problems with the Conman ,certain residents and town officials. What was meant was it would have been another nail in the coffins lid to finally trying to bury the towns problems. Every one affected by these things up to now haven't had any success in removing the problems of the town. Why is that? Is it because there are not any problems or is it every one who are able to vote are afraid to vote to get the problems over and done with? Reasonable honest people want the best for themselves and do what they can to do it. All it takes is to show up at election time and vote your conscience and be sure to put your ballot in the slot up side down to insure the hawk eyes at the ballot box do not see your selection[s].
Not any problems? You would really have to be an ostrich to think that. What bugs me is that they (F-B-T) allow nice people, families, taxpayers to settle for substandard public servants.
Then a better selection of candidates should be among those who are complaining of the problems in the town. Again, all one has to do is show up at the polls and vote their conscience. If there are no better candidates running then do one of two things. Select the better of those running or vote by leaving no selection of the candidates you dislike. These two things suggested here by me will be noticed and attract the news media and non voters and can make a difference in the out come, especially in the next election.
We only have one vote each.
It is not going to attact any attention in the news unless many, many people choose to skip a vote. Non voters don't care or they'd vote to begin with.
There's only two ways to change this around - wait for nature to run it's course or have a miracle in Town Hall.
You could be right but why wait for nature to take its course. When there is the power of voting there is the way to take back the town. If you have a friend talk to them and ask if they are satisfied with the town as it is with those in official positions. Give them the knowledge of what you have learned and known and ask them to, in turn, to spread the word of that knowledge. Are you willing to let this crazy stuff to go on? I doubt that or you wouldn't have responded to make any comment . All it does take is to go to the polls and vote your conscience for what is the best that you think is for the town and its residents. I say this because there is no action by the officials to remedy the towns problems before they get any worse than they are now . It is time to stand tall by voting these negligent do nothing twits out of their positions in all of the towns government positions.
And what do you think we have been doing? Are you new in town?
You haven't tried hard enough to insist the BOS and the voters do what should be done to over come the problems the town has now and in the past. Does it really matter if I'm new or not to the town. I vote my conscience and for the best of candidates for the positions they are running for. If I do not like those running for a particular office or position I leave the space empty and move on .What is it you do?
This is a valuable tool for seniors, caregivers and disabled.
They don't provide services but they try to point people in the right direction to get help.
They have helped me and I wanted other people to be aware of this resource.

ServiceLink relocates to Atkinson

ATKINSON — Community Crossroads recently welcomed Rockingham ServiceLink Resource Center as its new neighbor at 8 Commerce Drive.
On Dec. 14, Rockingham ServiceLink moved from its location at 287 Lawrence Road in Salem into Suite 802 at the new site.
Established in 2000, ServiceLink is a statewide network of locally administered community-based resources for seniors, adults with disabilities and their caregivers.
ServiceLinks are community centers located throughout the state that offer information, referrals, and assistance for older adults, adults with disabilities and chronic illness, and for those who love, care and support them.
The ServiceLink program was created to provide easier and better access to the kinds of resource information that helps people to live fully and to enable them to learn more about their options so they can make plans which support their independence.
Consumers will be able to contact one office to determine all the options and services available to them, instead of searching and piecing together assistance from multiple agencies and programs.
Rockingham ServiceLink is staffed with a program director, a long-term support counselor, a referral specialist and a caregiver specialist.
The staff is trained and certified as information/referral specialists by the Alliance of Information and Referral. The team, supported by trained volunteers, is responsible for operations, responding to consumer inquiries, public education and long-term support counseling.
Watch for a future announcement regarding a welcome reception for ServiceLink at Community Crossroads.

How dare you accuse anyone here of not trying hard enough. Clearly you are a newbie and think your simple suggestions might work. Do you really think we sit back and fight not? Have you ever heard the stories about us and what we have done to change this mess?
What is it I do? I get involved in the Town and volunteer AND vote against the corrupt few. You are insulting those who came before you and asked the same questions you now ask in your stupid uninformed state. At the very least, get off your high horse and stop pointing fingers. What did YOU do to change the state of the town? Talk about that hypocrit.
You said "we"earlier and now you are saying I'm accusing you all of not trying hard enough. I have seen the past meetings and found that they got no where. It appears that the BOS do not want to really hear the complaints and just let those complained about get away with what they do. This is why I say vote your conscience . If that is pointing fingers then you should look again.When you say I'm a hypocrite I'm not. I talk to people in town and tell them what I know and what I feel should be done to get these officials out of office. If you and those you say have done things then it isn't enough that the town still have these jerks in their positions is it? All those offended by the past and present officials should ban together and be more vocal and ask for the various agencies to do what is called an investigation with a time limit of reporting the results to the public. Don't say "we" already did that. What you forget is that pressure to bear on them is the best way to get things done. There can't any doubt that certain town pols have influenced these agencies to not do the job they are supposed to do.Even these influential pols know they can't go to the well when there is no water to be had because they took it all before. I'm thrilled to see that you volunteer and are involved in the town. You do appear to have a fully sustained knowledgeable wealth of the wrongful doings in town and that your willingness to share them with others is or could be a good thing .That is if it be that your sharing with others as it has been alluded to in your attacking me.

I'm doing plenty. You are the one or ones that should be running well before me even thinking about doing it. You are the one[s] that are or have been affected by the towns problems the most and have so much knowledge of the wrongful things before my saying any thing here to suggest the ways stop the craziness. Just be sure to vote in the up coming election. Be sure to encourage your friends to do the same especially if your all so not willing to ban together to go to the agencies available again.
We should run before you? Most of those most hurt by him have ran and fought. You should focus on what you can do rather than criticizing others.

A good relationship requires mutual understanding of each other with mutual consideration for one another for the relationship to work. Its been said human beings are said to be in need of being social with one another to survive as people. Well I am one of the lucky ones who have a good relationship with my better half and my friends. I don't know why anyone on here has to attack and bully, especially toward women. Real men do not act that way. Some here do and maybe it's because they can do it anonymously. A test of your real character is how you act when no one is looking and how you act in tough times. How ashamed would you be to be outed?
We have one person who can't deal with women have caeers and one that thinks they sit in front of soap operas all day. (Do they even have soap operas anymore?) Looks like we have a few dinosaurs here in Atkinson.
Lets all remember that we all endure soap operas in our individual daily lives. We do not have to have outside influences from tv soaps. [ Try looking at your tv during the day around the 12 to 2:30m or so times to see the soaps that are still airing.] I have no problem with females working after all they wanted equal rights with men in every thing men have and do in the work place and at home,etc.. I don't feel I'm sexist but I do feel woman are never satisfied with what is life .Some men fall in that same place as well as women. They and men can't have it one or both ways when all things should be mutual in a relationship at home or in the work place. If your not of- or- in a satisfactory relationship then move the hell onto some other one that can make you shut up and enjoy the- or -any relationship you seek. Stop the bitching and try for a better life in all of your living life styles respects and future. And no I'm not a dinosaur, I'm a man who deals with realities of today. There is to much going on today in our world than this soap opera that seems to be taking over the site.In short get a life . Life isn't all about you alone is it?.
