Atkinson police investigate burglary

From the Eagle Tribune;

Atkinson police investigate burglary
By Eric Parry
eparry@eagletribune.com

ATKINSON — Atkinson police are investigating a burglary at a Main Street house, where thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics were stolen in broad daylight.

Police were called Monday after the owners returned to find their 154 Main St. house had been broken into, according to Detective Phil Farrar.

"Most of the rooms had been gone through," Farrar said.

So far, police don't have any suspects.

Police Chief Philip Consentino said it could be as much as $25,000 worth of items. Farrar said he couldn't confirm that amount since police are awaiting a full report of the stolen items.

Although this is the first housebreak in Atkinson in a while, Farrar said other nearby communities have experienced them lately. Farrar is coordinating with other local agencies to see if the break-ins might be connected.

"They're all around us," he said.

Hampstead police Lt. John Frazier said that town has had six burglaries since Feb. 23, which is a little bit more than it usually sees.

Five of the burglaries were residential and one occurred earlier this week at a downtown business. Frazier said they're continuing to investigate the burglaries and three or four might be connected. No arrests have been made.

OMG with all these breakins, CON-sentino will want to add another detective to the force. Lookout taxpayers when he wants to come and wack you pocketbook again.

Hello? Farrar, get with the program! There were two other burglaries in the past week in Town. Why is it you don't ever seem to know what is going on?

All of this is nice. However, has anything new happened on Atkinson's favorite family reality TV show, The Osborn's. I've been out of town and missed a few episodes.

Anonymous said...

Were there burglaries in Hemlock Heights and on Lewis Lane or is the police log wrong in the paper?

hmmm

Anonymous said...

How can the Detective not know of the other recent burglaries in town?

Because what's important in Atkinson is giving ladies rides to their socials.

Seems some APD officials are so occupied with the elderly affairs that they slack off on keeping the people in town informed by accurate police logs and reporting on all crime in town.

I know I feel very insecure in my own home due to this.

Anonymous said...

Could have cought them if it was near the post office.

Who's slacking off? How about getting off your duff and actually trying to find the information on their website. All of their incidents are here and have been for some time now:

Article submission:

Petty antics

I have lived in Atkinson for over 30 years and I am getting sick and tired of the chosen few harassing our town government. Most of the positions are on a volunteer basis and others are grossly underpaid part-time help. But you people persist on creating havoc for individuals that are trying to make our town a better place to live. You are disrupting our town government with your petty quirks and antics. You waste the time of our Board of Selectmen, chief of police and whoever else doesn't think the warped way you people do. If you don't like the way our town is run, why don't you move or get a job to keep yourself busy?

Eagle Tribune Soundoff - Friday, April 15

MAcciard said...

To Petty Antics;

Is it too much to ask that our elected and appointed officials obey the laws of the Town of Atkinson, and the State of NH?

Because the complaints that have been filed have all been attempts by various and sundry individuals to get the powers that be to do their jobs, under the law. And they have largely been successful in that our town government is operating more openly than ever before.

You decry those of us that have used the laws available to us to urge town officials to conform their behavior to the law, but you have no criticisms for their actions which precipitated those complaints?

To the poster who criticizes people wanting to reform Atkinso town government.

It is unfotlrtunate that Atkinson is sick and feeblile due to decades of selectmen not managing their employees and their affais.

Atkinson is hobbling along the best it can carrying pound of dead weight.

It could be that the old bullies and intimidation could br replaced by a new crop of the same. That's why freedom does not come cheap. Either you draw the line in the sand and fight corruption or you join the cowards who hide in fear and stick their head in the sand like an Ostridge.

Unfortunately this strategy leaves the main body of the ostridge exposed to the knives of the vendictive.

Out coutry is in great danger as the citizens have not joined together to oppose greed and corruption in our government.

When will the people take their government and country back and start running it again? As it is the citizens have surrendered to the egotistical entrenched political hacks that feed off the public money and fatten their wallets and spew their propaganda.

Will it take a greater crisis to bring us together? That's shameful. What does that say about what we have become: Spoiled, self indulgant, cowardly, and glued to that big flat TY watching passively as the town and country fall apart.

Maybe the Town should pay the help more and get qualified people to work here.

Anonymous said...

Maybe we should get rid of the Chief and their supporters and take our town back. Why would we want to pay more and get the same old corruption?

Anonymous said...

We wouldn't, but to answer 'Petty Antics', who complain that the employees are grossly under paid. Groosly underpaid and grossly under qualified, it's a wash.

Anonymous said...

There are (still) many volunteer positions in town waiting to be filled.

To those clamoring for reform and to regain control of town governance, where are you? I just don't understand the apparent widespread dissatisfaction, yet no one volunteers.

Applications are available at Town Hall.

Volunteer fer town hall? Can't stand smirking arrogant faces and get disgusted easy knowing fakes. A dozen barf bags. Gimme.

Anonymous said...

Why would ANYONE Volunteer KNOWING if they disagreed with Non-quilified chief of police CON-sentino's position, he would use his position to defame them? YOU want Volunteer's get rid of the reason NO ONE will Volunteer.

What a PIECE OF SHIT you guys are supporting.

It is insightful, well thought-out comments like 11:58 PM's that make this blog so useful.

Listen folks, no offense, but I think the decline in volunteerism in our town has more to do with the very personal attacks found here and the constant stream of lawsuits against town officials. It wasn't too long ago many of you were supporting a petition that prevented town officials from being covered by the town lawyers to defend themselves from lawsuits against them.

Stand-up and look in the mirror if you want to see why the town can't get volunteers for open positions.

Anonymous said...

People don't volunteer because they can't stand the politics. I know several people who would but their families are against it. One false move and you have Consentino following you around town and Sapia in your face.

People in this town are not stupid and once the real problem is removed, it will be a different town. It will happen someday, somehow.

MAcciard said...

To 6:29am;

I believe you have mischaracterized that warrant article.

That warrant article was NOT to prevent the town officials from using legal counsel for defense against actions stemming from their official duties, but to prevent them from having access to legal counsel on our dime for actions not part of their official duties.

For example, to use a personal experience;

When I filed the ethics complaint against the Chief 5 years ago, and the Ethics committee ignored it, I appealed their decision to Superior Court. The Town had a responsibility to defend him up to the point that the Court Ordered him to knock it off. AFTER that point, the Contempt Case, the endless appeals, His Supreme Court folly, should have been on his own dime, not ours. AND The selectmen should have made him reimburse the town for the legal fees spent in his defense after he was found to be in the wrong.

Our town officials, in the recent past have had no trouble violating Ordinances and laws, because they have UNLIMITED LEGAL resources, and they, as a result, have no skin in the game.

Just look at the school board. Illegal meetings, lack of disclosure, and when someone asks questions? That can't be tolerated.

To 9:21 PM, 11:58 PM and 8:47 AM...

You're right, let someone else do it.

After all, you're already doing the town great service by posting anonymous rants on this blog. How much better-off we all are because of your dedicated involvement.

Though it is a cliche, it is nevertheless true... if you're not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

Applications still available at Town Hall.

Anonymous said...

Nice anon. rant of your own (not).

How do you know if I volunteer or work for the town or not? You don't. Zip it.

Anonymous said...

The lack of volunteers should be a clue that there's a big problem.

Anonymous said...

You notice there are never any lawsuits against people doing their jobs. Only against people who abuse their authority;

Artus v. Town: Because Chief bullied people on phone for signing petition warrant article

Brownfeld v. Town: Because Polito offered to remove him from meeting if he didnt sit down and stop causing disturbance(disturbance was taking pictures of Polito and selectmen)

Acciard v. Town: Over Chief's abuses.(following through town, threats, speeches in meetings, investigations, vandalism)

Grant v. Consentino: Over him ordering police to throw her, husband, son out of town hall during a meeting

Grant v. Selectmen: Tried to have them removed for no putting the Vietnam Mem. where Voters said to.

Acciard v. Consentino: Ethics complaint chief voting on police stuff as selectmen

Notice a pattern?

9:21 PM, 11:58 PM and 8:47 AM all at least inferred by their negative comments that they do not volunteer or work for the town.

To 12:09 PM, you're right. I don't know whether you do or do not work or volunteer for the town. But I do have a guess. I'll guess not. Am I right?

PS: I am on a volunteer board.

Applications still available at Town Hall.

You mean implied.

Anonymous said...

Nope, you are wrong.

One might INFER from your remarks that you assume that people who complain are not involved. Is this what mean to IMPLY?

Either way, it is presumptuous of you.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it is absolutely true. The first five new members of the Atkinson Taxpayer Committee or Committee for Fair Evaluations will get a Champagne breakfast and hot air balloon ride.

We value your time and committment to improve town government. We know you are special.

Anonymous said...

Will the Hot Air Balloon be doing a Splash and Dash and dump its water on Dan and Maggie Osborn's house?

Anonymous said...

The hot air balloon will not pass over the Osborn property. It will pass over beautiful scenery and close to eagles far above tree tops.

Spring is here. Come join us and make a difference.

Once again...absoultely off topic. This has nothing to do with the posted Tribune article.

Mr. Moderator, might as well take this post down and put up another article from the Tribune and see how fast that goes off topic.

There might as well be only a few select topics:

1. The Chief
2. Lt. Baldwin
3. Frank Polito
4. The Osborns
5. And how all of the above are to blame for every problem ever faced by the citizens of Atkinson and all of mankind as we know it.

This blog is a joke and has no credibility or integrity. It does no fact checking and only posts only "ex parte" points of view.

There is no "open" and "honest" debate. If you try to intelligently argue both sides of an issue you are shouted down. If you are not "down" with the Blog Agenda...you are shouted down.

There was a great line from the movie Reservoir Dogs, where Michael Madsen's character asks Harvey Keitel's character, "Are you gonna bark all day little doggie; or are you gonna bite?"

That's all there is here...little doggies that bark, bark, bark, and nothing else.

The blog critics work hard to try to discretit or disrupt the blog. And always fail. Cause it can't be done. It just adds to the fun. The blog will be around forever exposing the good and the shoddy in Atkinson.

So if you are a crooked manipulative little political hack or a upstanding righteous citizen who does good to yourneighbors the blog will contine to sort it out.

I wouldn't think of not reading the blog daily. I learn so much. And I like seeing bullies get exposed for everything they try to get away with.

Why participate in the dissolution of the Conflict of Interest Committee. What were you frightened the public would know about? Who were you protecting and why? One individual or the whole group of habitual offenders? Is this how you serve as town leaders?

This is a violation that can never be covered up in the Town of Atkinson. It will take on a "life of it's own in the memories of the honest. And anyone who participated in the cover up of Mr. Acciard's complaint shares in disgrace and the contempt of the honest.

Chew on it, look in the mirror, admit the truth about your responsibility.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Acciard's complaint need not be covered up, nor need the Ethics committee be dissolved if there were volunteers to fill the open seats.

I believe Selectmen have ability to fill vacancies for elected positions until the vacant terms are up.

Many here feel the town needs "cleaning up". Here's your chance.

Anonymous said...

The Selectmen have no authority over the CIC and cannot fill seats.

Only the court can do so and beware that if you submit your name as a candidate, you will be scrutinized by the court and by me.

Anonymous said...

Give me a break!

Anonymous said...

Town needs a break from the kind of nut jobs who think it's OK to cover up crime by going after members of the Conflict of Interest Committee.

Why did Hanslett resign?
Why did Lafranc resign?
Why did Sapia resign?
Why didn't Smith resign? He should have. He knows what he did and soon the court will too and remove him.

Anonymous said...

Jack Sapia. Now you can post and tell us why you resigned from the CIC. Why did you resign? Do you have the ethics of a real man and will tell the public? Or did you have a vendetta against someone and not do the ethical thing and have to keep that secret? We deserve to know why you resigned. It would clear up your personal ethics.

If you dont tell why you resigned then it will become the talk if you ever run for office again. So best to come out and tell us the truth. Just this one time, tell us the truth.

Anonymous said...

Last entry sounds like the BS that we heard in elementary school from play yard bullies. Didn't deserve a response then--doesn't now.

Anonymous said...

You may consider it BS but because you resigned there was NO LONGER A QUORUM! The Conflict of Interest Committee was done and gone.

The talk in the school yard is you were in a lawsuit with the Chief and denied it and refused to step down.

Anonymous said...

Sapia couldn't (wouldn't tell the truth if the truth would be better. He is a known for not telling the truth so don't EVER expect he ever will. He's Maggie's lap dog and we all know she can't tell the truth either.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER, YA KNOW.
