This Blog will not fall to outside hacks from anyone, especially insecure public officials afraid of their constituents criticism.

Unresolved Issues from the Atkinson Reporter...

1.) Remember the "Fuzzy Math" article?

This article told the story of how our police chief disposed of the "detail car" last year, and somehow, his kid knew where it was, and what the Town was paid for it, and bought the car the next day for $100.00 more. The problems with this story were numerous; The "inside information" which chief Consentino acquired through his job, and passed to his son. The discount price paid to the town, and the immediate profit to a family member of a town official, and what about the reason that the car was sold? Chief Consentino stated that it was "not fit" for use, yet his son used it as a daily driver. So it was not fit for use as a "detail car" sitting still with it's light on, but it was ok, for his kid to drive daily? To quote Jerry Williams... "It doesn't pass the smell test"

2.) Remember the misuse of sick time?

At my company this would be a firing offense, they would call it fraud! But not in Atkinson... The chief of police admits publicly, that "for 6 years or so" he has been approving sick time for his second in command, Lt. Baldwin to go on his Coast Guard summer camp, and no one gets in trouble? What about the almost $5,000.00 in evidently fraudulent sick time paid?

3.) Whatever happened to those "Blog" signs?

Isn't that theft? to take something that doesn't belong to you, especially something on private property? I am certain Atkinson PD is investigating, but what happened to the actual signs? were they thrown away? On whose authority? for what purpose?

And how can a government remove temporary signs that are not illegal?

All of these questions need to be answered, but the selectmen obviously don't want to have to deal with any of these issues.

Glad to see the Reporter in its new form! Job well done. Build it, and they will come.

Funny how all of these issues involve our police chief doing something he shouldn't be doing.

And the selectmen refusing to do anything.

How much shame can they endure? We will all see............

I think the kid getting the car bothers me as much as the fake sick time.

I mean if the car was so bad that we had to get rid of it, then how can the chiefs kid drive it every day?

And if it was only worth $300, then why was his kid so anxious to pay $400 to get it so quick?

And if $300 was all it was worth, then why do ex cruiser go, on Ebay for $1,500- $2,700, with more mileage?

You are right smells fishy to me

Some may recall this incident led to a citizen petition presented at the last deliberative session that would force the town to put such capital items up for auction on EBAY or similar service. If I recall, it was watered down to allow trade ins, the same sort of activity that prompted the petition.

This was the first time I really saw the chief in action. He got up, explained what happened (and still fails the smell test) and then finished by yelling, and I mean yelling, at the petition author who was right next to him.

I'll never forget what he said, "GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHTS." Well, the facts were straight, they just did not fit the chiefs version of reality. It was a very disturbing display by a public official. I had heard a lot about the chief's bully tactics before the session, but then I saw it with my own eyes.

The whole department smells. The car issue, the sick time abuse, the pleasure vehicle problem, the abduction fiasco, the slush fund, etc.

And the chief sits there and thinks, "what problem, we got no problems." Absolutely pitiful.

There are alot of problems that make the average person question what is going on there. I still havn't understood why Chief C wasn't let go a long time ago.

A bit off topic, but relates to a past issue. I don't know how many of you read the BOS minutes on the town web side, but this little ditty caught my eye.

From the April 29, 2008 minutes under New Business:, "Mr. Paul DiMaggio had mentioned that he would like to be on the Emergency Communication Committee for Atkinson and that the same volunteers would come together as a group. Mr. Sullivan said that this was not feasible after the resounding vote. The Committee did not get the ear of the voters. Mr. Childs added that all of their Warrant Articles (WA) was defeated. Mr. Friel said that Mr. DiMaggio did not know why or why not it was defeated and that he received no direction from the voters to go forward with it. Mr. Sullivan said that they should let it stand."

Kudos to the board on this one. How would anyone expect that of committee of the same people to come up with a new solution after the old one went down in flames.

You want to fix the problem, try getting some new blood, and maybe some expertise, on this committee.

I have never heard of them looking for committee members, I only hear about it after the fact. New folks would come forward if they knew, I know I would. I'd like to see them post these things on the town web site.

New people would do the town alot of good, all around ,in many ways. Starting with the Chief of police...

Of course we need new blood. The old blood is corrupt and entrenched. They have formed their own following and can depend on that following to do as they ask as trouble appears on the horizon.

New blood is on the way.............just need to get the old "Political Machine" out of the way...........to take our rights back.

The "Chief" doesn't serve all the elderly within the town that he promised to serve. He only serves those that vote the way he wants them to vote.

The "Chief" is a fraud.

The "Chief" and all thoses that support him, need to go.
