How old is the Chief?

Last nights selectmen's meeting was another eye-opener.

The meeting began, late, with a discussion of separating, TOTALLY, Elderly Affairs Dept. from the Police Dept.! Isn't this what Jane Cole began on the budget committee 6 years ago? The budget committee succeeded in partially separating the budgets, but nothing more, and since both Jane and Mark Acciard have left the budget committee, there have been no serious questions about the overlap between these two depts.

For example, as has been asked here, How do you provide 1600 rides for only $19,000.00?

The simple answer is that you cant! so where does the rest of the money come from?

But the budget committee stopped asking question two years ago. You would think with the recent AGO letter, they would be looking to clean up our own house, but they have been silent.

Selectman Sullivan did a bang up job last night, while the chief sat there and growled like a petulant child. At numerous points selectman Sullivan rapped his gavel and demanded that chief stop interrupting the meeting, when he refused to stop being childish and rude, selectman Sullivan told him one more outburst and I will ask you to leave.

But the antics continued towards the end of the meeting the chief had the stones to ask the board to transfer the $19,000 in the existing donation acct. to the organization he set up, with him as the executive director, and all the other directors are people who work for him, proving that even after all these controversies, Court Orders, citizen complaints, our police chief STILL does not understand the meaning of the phrase "conflict of interest"!

When he asked for this money, obviously not caring that money can not be spent out of this acct. except in a public hearing, and selectman Sullivan said not tonight, Phil reacted in true three year old fashion; "the money is yours"I dont want it then)

This sounded remarkably like a three years old screaming that if he cant have his way he will pick up his marbles and go home.

This blog's response, chief, is have a nice retirement.

That pretty much sums it up. The Chief was "acting up" (that's a phrase that my parents used to say when I misbehaved as a child). The man truly behaves in a jaw dropping manner for a guy his age.
Then, we get treated to the weekly Childs vs Stewart bout, although it isn't Teddy that starts it.
This stuff makes for entertaining television, but it's an embarrassment to the Town.
Where are all the adults in our Town leadership?

It will never cease to amaze me how little regard the chief has for others intelligence.

Does he really believe that no one would notice, or object, to his new charitable organization with all the directors his subordinates. One really has to wonder what color the sky is in his universe. His behavior should come as no surprise. The concept of "Professional Behavior" does not seem to exist in this other universe.

Kudos to Mr. Sullivan for "not taking it anymore". He's been harshly criticized in this forum. Last night he finally did what we've been begging for, leadership. Time for Mr. Friel and Mr. Childs to follow this example.

You gentlemen were elected, and you promised, to serve the needs and wishes of the citizens of Atkinson, not the Kingdom of Phil. I believe one of your responsibilities is to protect the town from embarrassment. Lately the town has received a lot of it over a problem that, to a normal person, would seem easy to fix. Last night was a good start. Please don't stop now.

Oh, and Mr. Sullivan, look at it this way. You got some great press.

As usual, Mr Childs and Mr Freil don't fulfill their responsibility to oversee the chief; exactly what are they so afraid of? Does the chief hold the mortgage on their house?

Why on Earth would Fred Childs want to continue the Chief in Elderly Affairs when he set up a non-profit with a Board of Directors composed of people that all work with him and are subject to his bullying and intimidation? Fred, what are you thinking? WAKE UP!!!

And Mr. Friel: please find the guts to support Selectman Sullivan; you should be ashamed that you force this man to stand out there alone in performing the management of the chief that should have been happening DECADES ago. We already had one Sapia, we don't need another clone...

Q. How old is the chief?

A. Old enough to have sailed on the Titanic, yet younger than a four year old when having a tantrum.

To selectman Sullivan...
Your efforts are to be comended. You are not alone in this stuggle to do the right thing. Most of us in Atkinson feel the same way, but as we can see by last nite's show, you stand alone on the board. Obviously, Bill and Child's are on the chiefs side due to they owe him everything because Phil got them elected.
The video is on the Atkinson-Factor.
Watch for yourself, and be amazed at the Childish behavior of your Police Chief.

Its Time

To Mr.'s Friel and Childs. The hull of the good ship Phil is showing cracks. It hit the AG iceberg and ET sharks are circling. Stop shuffling deck chairs. Time to bail.

I don't know anything about the chief helping the Childs campaign, but it is no secret the chief's hand prints are all over the Friel campaign, starting with the electioneering demonstration at the Senior Center, of all places. It was wrong then. Time to make amends

Mr. Friel, I watched you on Candidates night. You promised to serve the people. Time to fulfill that promise.

Its been said here time and time again. Time to do the right thing.

You know people....as people age, their brain cells start dying, and, sometimes, they get dementia.
Maybe Phil deserves a little sympathy, rather than jokes. Maybe there's an illness we don't know about.

If illness is there, then retire and be done with it. But that is no excuse for his actions and theft from the taxpayers of Atkinson in my opinion.

RE: 3:22 PM

If he has dementia, and boy, he sure shows some of the signs, he has absolutely no business being in law enforcement and access to firearms. He is not authorized to carry one as a law enforcement officer, yet he has been seen at a public meeting carrying. I don't know about you, but that scares the absolute hell out of me.

His actions, and they are all on public record, many on video, show a man with serious anger management issues and a god complex. Is this the kind of person we want has the head law enforcement official?

He'll get my sympathy when he retires, not one millisecond sooner.

My local community broadcast is pretty boring. Sounds like the entertainment alone is worth moving back to town.
I'd have to be willing to pay $5K a year in commuting expense though.

A suggestion to the BOS. If Phil shows up packing, insist he remove the firearm from the premises, for yours and everyone elses safety. If he were to do so it would be obvious to anyone it would be for its intimidation factor. You've got enough to deal with, you don't need this nonsense.

I have only seen him wear a gun once on 30 years, and that was when the old blog was questioning if he was certified to carry.

You know Phil, sure enough he shows up at the select meeting that night wearing his gun, just to show he can.

This is just juvenile. But thats Phil.
